Charles of Orléans, Count of Angoulême (French: Charles d'Orléans, Comte d'Angoulême) (1459 – 1 January 1496) was a member of the French Orléans family descended from Louis I de Valois, Duke of Orléans, and a minor French prince. He was Count of Angoulême from 1467-1496. He married three times, the third to Louise of Savoy, daughter of Philip the Landless and Margaret of Bourbon, in 1490. They had two children:

Marguerite d'Angoulême (11 April 1492 – 21 December 1549)

François d'Angoulême (12 September 1494 – 31 March 1547), who became King of France.

Charles of Orléans, Count of Angoulême (French: Charles d'Orléans, Comte d'Angoulême) (1459 – 1 January 1496) was a member of the French Orléans family descended from Louis I de Valois, Duke of Orléans, and a minor French prince. He was the son of John, Count of Angoulême and Marguerite de Rohan, and was Count of Angoulême from 1467-1496. He married Louise of Savoy, daughter of Philip the Landless and Margaret of Bourbon, on 16 February 1488. They had two children:

Marguerite d'Angoulême (11 April 1492 – 21 December 1549)

François d'Angoulême (12 September 1494 – 31 March 1547), who became King of France.

Charles also had two illegitimate daughters by his mistress Antoinette de Polignac, Dame de Combronde, who was his wife's lady-in-waiting:[1]

Jeanne of Angouleme (c.1490- after 1531/1538), married firstly Jean Aubin, Seigneur de Malicorne, and secondly, Jean IV de Longwy, Baron of Pagny, by whom she had three daughters. The youngest, Jacqueline de Longwy (died 28 August 1561), in her own turn married Louis III de Bourbon, Duke of Montpensier.

He also had an illegitimate daughter by mistress Jeanne Le Conte:

Souveraine d'Angouleme (died 23 February 1551), married Michel III de Gaillard, Seigneur de Chilly.

    Charles d'Orléans, Duc d'Angoulême was born in 1459. He was the son of Jean d'Orléans, Comte d'Angoulême and Marguerite de Rohan. He married Louise di Savoia, daughter of Filippo II di Bresse, Duca di Savoia and Margaret de Bourbon, on 16 February 1487. He died on 1 January 1496 at Chateauneuf-en-Angoumois.
