Arthur and Sally Whitehead Bonnycastle, widow of John Blakey Helm (1986), arrangements in charge of Pearson's Funeral Home, service of commitment to be held at Cave Hill Cemetery.

HELM, CHARLOTTE BONNYCASTLE "BONNY", 74, of Corning, NY died on May 4, 2008 after a brief illness.

Bonny was born in Louisville, KY on November 19, 1933 the daughter of the late Col. Arthur and Sally (Whitehead) Bonnycastle.

Bonny was a graduate of The Louisville Collegiate School and of Bennett Junior College in Millbrook, NY. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in education from Elmira College. She opened the Preschool Nursery in 1962 and operated it for thirty years before gifting it to the Corning Family YMCA. She taught early childhood education at both Corning Community College and Elmira College. She also worked as a Federal consultant for CDA teacher training throughout New York.

She was the wife of the late John Blakey Helm who predeceased her in 1986.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John and Andrea Helm of Simpsonville, SC; her daughter and son-in-law Anne and T.J. Galvin of Painted Post, NY; her sister and brother-in-law Sally and Archie Hardy of Columbia, SC; special cousin Libby Poindexter; grandchildren, Morgan and Bennett Helm, Jack and Mason Galvin; her best friend Dutch Craumer of Corning, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
