About Charlotte Southwell O'Grady, Free Settler “Raleigh” 1852
John & Charlotte were headed for Melbourne with their seven children. Charlotte (daughter of General Southwell-Keely) became very ill on the voyage, so they disembarked from the Raleigh in Fremantle in 1852 and ended up settling in Collie Street. Four of their sons grew up to become Sea Captains.
