About Charlotte Stubbings
Charlotte's surname is a bit of a mystery-she may be Notson, Notron, Norton or Watson. Because of this problem, she may have been born in 1781 or 1786, and she may have died in 1850 or 1858. I have since found a Charlotte Stubbins who died in Croydon in 1865-this is where her daughter, Jemima, was living, so it is likely that mum was living there in her old age. The first child I have born to Henry and Charlotte is Jemima. She is born 10 years after their wedding. The odds are that there are several older brothers and sisters in this family. Cockley Cley is about 18 miles from Rocklands. There appear to be no Notsons in Rocklands at the time of Charlotte's birth. After her marriage, there are several mentions of the name. I suspect Benjamin and Rebecca moved there and brought their young family with them. The Charlotte born in 1786 died in December of that year so I guess this Charlotte is about one year younger. That would have her marrying at 18.
