Chester Sanford, Sr

Chester P. Sanford Sr., known as Chet Sanford, age 64, of Newton Township, Michigan, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at the home of his son Chet, while visiting.

Chet was born January 30, 1943 in Detroit to Elmer Sanford and Bertha (Olbeck) Sanford. He moved to Battle Creek as a child with his family, and has lived here since then. He attended Battle Creek Public Schools, graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1961.

He worked for Post Cereals for over 35 years, retiring in 1998. He worked as a painter with the Plant Maintenance Department for 16 years, then transferred into production at Post where he worked until his retirement.

He was married to Mary M. Davis on April 15, 1961 in Battle Creek. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1982. A later marriage to Faye Jacques ended in divorce.

Chet was a member of the Post 25 Year Club, and the Post Sportsman's Club. He had enjoyed hunting and fishing

He was survived by his son, Chester P. "Chet"(Dr. Tina) Sanford Jr. of Marshall, and daughter, Katherine M. Brown of Battle Creek; 4 grandchildren, Amber and Miranda Sanford, Valerie Chapman and Trevor Brown; sister, Marlene Crippen of Battle Creek; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
