ABT 1680 in Baden-Württemberg, Germany Death: ABT AUG 1746 in Skippack, what is now Montgomery Co, PA (will dated 6 Aug 1746, probated 10 Sep 1746) Note: NOTE: At this point, it is merely conjecture as to which children belo ng to which of Christian's wives. Do NOT take this arrangement as gospe l. It is fairly certain that Christian and Margaret, the three childr en by her first marriage to Jacob Grater, and the first four children of h er second marriage, left Germany after selling property there in 1719 a nd emigrated to America.

1712 - Of Dühren, Baden-Württemberg. 1719 - Emigrated with wife Margaret and 3 step-children [Aft 1718] - Settled in Swamp, eventually Salford.
"Jacob Michael Greder's widow Margaret married second about 1712, Mennonite Christian Allebach of Dühren, Baden-Wurtemb erg, Germany. Christian and Margaret left Dühren in 1719 with Christian's three step-children and his children by Marga ret: Esther, Elizabeth and David. Christian and Margaret had eight children all together: Esther, Elizabeth, David in Baden-Wurtemberg, Veronica, Mary, C hristian, Peter and John in Salford Twp., Montg. Co., Pa. Christian came to America because Pennsylvania Mennonites needed a weaver. After Margaret's death, Christian married Elizabeth about 1745. Christian and Elizabeth had one child, Abraham."
"The first congregation to be detached from the Skippack community was the one at Salford, just a few miles to the nort h. As early as 1718, Henry RUTH and Hans REIF had located here. These were soon followed by Christian ALLEBACH, Chris tian MEYERS, Hans Ulrich BERGEY, Nicholas HOLDERMAN, Frederick ALDERFER, Christian STAUFFER, Jacob FUNK, Dielman, Marti n and Jacob KOLB and others. The first meeting house for this congregation was built about 1738."
Emigrated "from Duhren, Germany, before 1719, to Berks Co., Penn." 1720 - Obtained warrant for land in Great Swamp.
Christian, the original emigrant, came to Philadelphia from Crefeld, a town on the Lower Rhine in Germany, near the Dutch frontier. It seems that a number of colonists were weavers by trade, and they had requested that Christian Allebach come and establish a cloth making business, as he is described in the Archives of Pennsylvania as being an expert weaver.
He settled in the Skippack region of eastern Pennsylvania with other Dutch Mennonites. While the family name of Allebach is common in Montgomery County, it is not common in the usual sense, that among those 30,000 immigrants listed in the 'Pennsylvania German Pioneers' that came to PA from 1727 until the time of the Revolution, there is not one Allebach. It appears that the family are all descendants of Christian Allebach who came to Pennsylvania sometime before 1727.
Christian was among the early members of the Salford Mennonite congregation and his name appears on an indenture dated 25 Jan 1738. He was one of the executors of the estate of Christian Stauffer in 1735, indicating that he had already married Maria before that date.
Christian Allebach was naturalized in the Supreme Court of PA which met at Philadelphia on April 11 to 13, 1743. He was naturalized by affirmation, as was the custom followed in the case of Mennonites and Quakers who were opposed to taking an oath.
