About Christian Dumont
Not all members of the Christian Dumont family went to settle in the Banat. Johann Georg *1755, Margarete *1757, Michael Johannes *1763 stayed in the Saarland. Christian Dumont was a very adventurous man, and although he was a farmer and linenweaver, he was an innkeeper which was the business of his wife's family. He was already 60 years old when he applied for the land grant at Vienna. His registration states:
August 1, 1785: Christian Dumont, Farmer and Linenweaver, catholic, 60 years old with wife, 1 son and 2 daughters. 100 florentiner in posession (that was more than most brought with them, Aida) to Hungary, designation Gottlob from 20. August 1785 until 31.10. 1786 (until the village was completed) The sources for this information are from Werner Hacker Volumes and Stefan Staders "Sammelwerk" for personal research in Vienna archives use the reference: 1WK 250-32 = (4) UngRA Pro 1785, folio 14, 129-130 =Abs Bd VIIS 116, 184 - Abs S 109(103) LuGot S66 (157) QaF; sw Da QaF-2240
The family had no male offsprings and the line expired in the Banat. There are many descendants, however, in the Saarland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and France. They all converge to the Frankenholzerhof. See also notation under Nikoal Dumont.
