Served in the War of 1812
Moved to Illinois in 1850
Served in war of 1812, stood over 6 ft tall. He was blind the last 20 yrs of his life. Two land grants were given for his military service: 40 acres in about 1849 and 120 acres about 1853, both of which were in Woodford County, Illinois, so with most of his children he left Virginia to go west.
