About Christian "Christ" Hogenson
~~~~~~ Christ was born as Christopher Hagbart Gundersen in Norway. The naming tradition for last names in Norway, was to use the father's first name, which was Gunder, and then you would either be Gundersen or Gundersdatter. When the family came to America (about 1885), Christ used his father's last name which was Haagensen and eventually Americanized the spelling to Hogensen.
- * Spelling of last name has been seen as Hogenson or Hogensen **
Christ died when living in East Saint Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois, in 1942. Christ's body was sent back to Tennessee for burial. Christ & his wife Tillie, lived in the Stewart County area in Tennessee in the 1920's & 1930's. I am not sure what the name of the cemetery is, where Christ is buried; possibly near Erin, TN or Tennessee Ridge, TN both located in Houston County, TN. ~~~~~~
