Houtz, Christian

Birth Date: 16 July 1805
Death Date: 18 Nov. 1850 Gender: Male Age: 42 Company: Brigham Young Company (1848)

Courtesy of Shelly Sicily: "They (John and Susannah Houtz) let him [Brigham Young] use theirs (wagon) and they stayed there until John was able to make two new wagons. He was a wheelwright. After arriving in the Valley they remained there for two years. His wife died from childbirth, and the premature infant died also. John made the coffins and saw to their burial and then he also died from the flu and over exertion caring for his family. The three died within 19 days, leaving the young children to fend for themselves, which they did with the help of relatives."
