About Christian D. van de Wege
Chris Van De Wege, 92, of W2368 S County Road A, Oostburg died on Monday morning, September 3, 2007 at Greendale Beverly Living Center in Sheboygan where he had resided for the past four days. Chris was born on May 26, 1915 in Sherry, WI, the son of the late Jacob and Sarah (Van De Gouwe) Van De Wege. On October 27, 1939, Chris married the former Helen Lubbers in Cedar Grove. Chris was a mason for many years; having worked for various contractors and being self employed before his retirement in 1993. Chris was also a crop farmer in the Town of Holland for many years. Chris was a member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church. He had a strong work ethic and was devoted to providing for his family. He enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Oostburg; one daughter, Loretta "Lolly" (Robert) Wade of Sheboygan; two sons, Don Van De Wege of Hingham and Mark Van De Wege of Oostburg; four grandchildren, Kristi (Robert) Heimerl of Sheboygan, Amy (Shawn) Spellich of Reedsville, Jonathan (Holli) Van De Wege of Everett, WA, and Matthew (Erin) Van De Wege of Hingham; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Cornelia "Kay" TenPas of Sheboygan Falls.
Chris was preceded in death by one grandson, Rodney Te Ronde; a son-in-law, David Te Ronde; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Van De Wege; one brother, Daniel (Jeanette and Ella) Van De Wege; and seven sisters and eight brothers-in-law, Mary (John) Dirkse, Annie (Jake) Minderhaud, Lucy (Martin) De Feyter, Susie (Bill) Van Dyke, Nellie (Ray) Lammers, Sarah (Harry) Veldboom, Johanna (Edwin) TenPas, and Lloyd TenPas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the Gibbsville Reformed Church with the Rev. Gerald A. Dykstra officiating. A family service will precede in the choir room at 1:45 pm. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from Noon until the time of services.
