Christiania Booysen (1933 - 1990)

Brief overview:

Christiania (56), and her husband Willem Hendrik Booysen (62), were killed in the farmhouse on their farm which is situated on the outskirts of the Eastern Karoo town of Hofmeyr, on 01/12/1990

They were brutally attacked with some heavy blunt instrument, in all probability, the instrument which was described as a "tommy-bar" and which appears to be some kind of crowbar.

  • Vuyo Manqindi and Donald Ndlele were convicted on both counts of murder and of robbery with aggravating circumstances, and housebreaking with intent to steal and the second appellant was also convicted of the offences involving unlawful possession of fire-arms and ammunition
  • On the murder charges both appellants were sentenced to death in respect of each charge.
