There is some debate as to when Christine / Christina (nee Groce) Stockton died and who her children were. Thomas Stockton is not shown with a wife in the 1830 census. Christine appears to have simply been missed by the census taker. There is evidence that Christine was still alive until about 1838 when Martilla / Matilda was born. The death certificate of Martilla Cross shows that she was a daughter of Thomas Stockton and Christine Groce.
