Christoffel Du Toit, born before 25 December 1773 either at “Roodewal” or “Roodedraai” both near Worcester. Baptised on 25 December 1773, Swellendam District. Died 13 September 1826 probably on “Roodewal”, Cape Colony.

Little is known about Christoffel Du Toit beyond that he married Aletta Elizabeth Viljoen, the daughter of Jacobus Petrus Viljoen and Hermina Viljoen (nee Conradie) at Cape Town on 4 September 1796. They had two sons, Petrus Jacobus, born 12 June 1797 at “Roodedraai” near Worcester and baptised 2 July 1797 at Waveren (Tulbagh) and Christoffel Francois “Stoffel” Du Toit (see further below).

Aletta Viljoen was baptised 2 June 1776 in Swellendam District and died at Worcester on 2 January 1852 at the house of her son-in-law Jacobus Petrus Pretorius. Aletta was the daughter of Jacobus Petrus Viljoen and Hermina Conradie who were established farmers near Worcester in the Swellendam District, the “leenreg” (lease) in the farm “Doornrivier” having been granted by the VOC to Jacobus Viljoen’s father Johannes Viljoen on 6 December 1745.
