About Christopher Crittenden Anthony, Sr
The son of German born Martin Anthony who came to this country before the revolution. William Morris Anthony stated that after coming to this country, the spelling of the name changed from Anthony to Antony. Christopher was one of 10 children, 8 boys and 2 girls although he was the only one to come to Louisiana. Christopher traveled south by way of Kentucky with his parents while young, married in Arkansas and then moved to Texas. After one year, he moved to the Sabine Parish area. Christopher was one of the first settlers in the Negreet area of Sabine Parish settling on Rio Hondo lands. He had over $15,000 in community property at the time of his death. Succession records state he had 7 minor children, although some say he had 10.
