On 1/24/1557, Sir John Maxwell of Terregles, Knight, granted to Christie Armstrong, called John's Christie, the teynds of the parish of Stabillgortoun, for which Armstrong undertook to pay yearly the sum of viij lbs. Scotch as long as he was in possession, and resign the same when called upon to do so.

Christopher led a raid into England, at Carlisle, where Kinmont Will was a prisoner, with 200 men, forged the wall, and released Kinmont Will, and they made their escape without a man lost. When Sir John Christopher Armstrong was born in 1526, in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, his father, Sir John Armstrong, was 46 and his mother, Lady Elizabeth Graham of Montrose, was 29. He married Lady Catherine Graham of Gorte about 1545, in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. They were the parents of at least 14 sons. He died on 22 September 1606, in his hometown, at the age of 80, and was buried in Langholm, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
