By a deed of 13th July 1940, Christopher declared that he had adopted the name of Christopher Charles Brackenbury in lieu of and in substitution for his former names of Christopher Charles Klein (a reference was published in the London Gazette the 19th July 1940).
According to London Gazette of 7th January 1941, Christopher Klein obtained in 23rd November 1940 a commission as "Pilot Officer on probation for the duration of hostilities".
Christopher was killed in action the 16th May 1941. He was buried at Ansty (St. James) Churchyard.
