About Christopher Robinson, IV.
His name appeared as Robertson when he purchased 185 acres in St. James Parish from his father for £50 on 18 July 1743. [Goochland Co. Deed Bk. 4:269.] Cumberland County charged Christopher on two tithables in 1759. [Cumberland County Tithable Lists for 1759, The Southside Virginian, 2:112.]
Christopher settled along Black Walnut Creek in Halifax County near John Nichols who held 4,450 acres on Black Walnut 5 September 1749. [Property Lines from an Old Survey Book - Halifax (Dodson), p. 110; Patent Bk. 27:300.] Christopher married Sarah Nichols, a daughter of John Nichols who gave 500 acres on Black Walnut Creek in Halifax County to their daughter Agnes Roberson 16 May 1765. [Halifax Co. Deed Bk. 5:345.] Nichols deeded 330 acres on both sides of Fall Creek to Christopher 18 June 1778. [Halifax Co. Deed Bk. 11:47.] Christopher sold 400 acres on the branches of Black Walnut to Charles Sullivant 19 February 1783. [Halifax Co. Deed Bk. 12:273.]
Christopher was head of a household of five whites and six blacks in Halifax County in 1782. [Heads of Families at the First Census 1790, Virginia, p. and col. 23D] Four whites were in his household in 1785 and his property was comprised of a 24' by 16' log dwelling house, barn, kitchen, and five cabins. The will of Christopher Robertson remembered wife, Sarah, and children Drucilla Sampson, Molly Thompson, Betty Gates, Phoebe Fambrough, Sarah Keene, Agnes Gates, Jesse Robertson, George Robertson (will dated 3 Jan. 1789, recorded 27 June 1791).

GEDCOM Note
A manuscript that was handed down thru the family says that he was the son of a Christopher Robertson so this need to be looked into.
