About Thomas Robertson

He received 200 acres on Deep and Muddy creeks as a gift from his father 14 May 1741 (Goochland Co. Deed Bk. 3:500), which he and his father and their wives deeded to Henry Hatcher 28 August 1749 (Cumberland Co. Deed Bk. 1:64).

1749 - 28 Aug., John Robinson of Cumberland County and Thomas Robertson of Chesterfield County, Virginia sell to Henry Hatcher of Chesterfield County, for 20 L, 200 A in Cumberland County, Virginia on the upper side of Deep Creek "to corner Dogwood thence on a straight course to Muddy Creek"..."which was granted to the above said John Robertson by patent and by him tenderly conveyed to Thomas Robertson as may and doth more fully appear by record of Goochland County, Virginia Court Office" signed by John (R) Robinson, Thomas Robinson, Tabitha (t) Robinson, Jane (x) Robinson. (Cumberland County W/D B1 P64.) The Goochland County deed is in 1741. Tabitha did not relinquish her dower right on the original deed, which might be the reason they all signed this one.

Thomas married Jane Magdalene LeGrand before 19 October 1742 when, as heirs of John LeGrand, deceased, they deeded her half of 50 acres patented to LeGrand to William Sallé. (Goochland Co. Deed Bk. 4:83.) With her sister, Judith LeGrand, they sold the remaining 25 acres to James Harris 15 April 1746. (Goochland Co. Deed Bk. 5:104.)

Thomas left a will (1790) in Franklin County naming his wife Jane Magdalene, two sons, and five daughters. (Franklin Co. Will Bk. 1:137, recorded 1798.)
