Christopher Stark, son of William (1664-1730), sometime in middle life left Groton, and removed to Pauling, Dutchess County, New York, a town near the Vermont line. We find him on record there in 1769 when he signed a deed for land for the building of a church at Groton. In 1773 he removed from Pauling, down into the Wyoming Valley, where he lived until his death in 1776, the opening year of the Revolution. Christopher Stark Sr died about a year before the Battle of Wyoming Valley where two of his sons were involved in the battle.
