About Clothilde of the Ostrogoths

Relationships apparently supported in Medlands:

Asserted daughter Sichilde, wife of Clotaire II, being the brother of Brunulphe and Gomatrudis (note, her parentage of Sichilde is unsupported):

CHLOTHACHAR [Clotaire], son of CHILPERICH I King of the Franks & his third wife Frédégonde (Spring 584-[18] Oct 629, bur Paris Church of St Vincent[353]).

  • m [secondly/thirdly] ([618/19]) SICHILDIS, sister of GOMATRUDIS[364], daughter of ---.
    • The Gesta Dagoberti records that, after the death of "Bertedrude regina", her husband married "Sichildem"[365].
    • The Gesta Dagoberti names "Brunulfus…frater Sichildis reginæ"[366].

  • [353] Fredegar, IV, 56, MGH SS rer Merov II, p. 148.
  • [364] Who in 626 married, as his first wife, Queen Sichildis's stepson King Dagobert II.
  • [365] Gesta Dagoberti I Regis Francorum 5, MGH SS rer. Merov. II, p. 402.
  • [366] Gesta Dagoberti I Regis Francorum 16, MGH SS rer. Merov. II, p. 406.

Appears to be a secondary source that lacks reliable backing (no citation given as to where this came from of July 21, 2018):

Theodoric Ostrogoths - was born about 0454 in Verona, Italy and died on 30 Aug 0526 . He was the son of Theodemir Ostrogoths.

Theodoric married Andelfieda Meroving in Rheims,Marne,Loire-Atlantique,France. She was the daughter of King Childeric of France I and Princess Basina of the Thuringians. She died on 30 Apr 0535 .

(Ben M. Angel notes: although Theodoric the Great did marry Audofledis, he had no reliably recorded children by her. He had three recorded children by one or more concubines: Amalasuintha, Theodogotha, and Ostrogotho. Source: Medlands.)

  • i. Crotechilde de Ostrogoths
    • Crotechilde married 'Brunulphe Earlin'.

. Brunulphe Earlin -

Brunulphe married Crotechilde de Ostrogoths. She is the daughter of Theodoric Ostrogoths and Andelfieda Meroving.

  • i. Fredegonde Earlin was born in 0543 and died in 0598 .

Support for Crotechilde is very weak. According to at least one reliable researcher, the relationship between her and Fredegonde is likely fictional:

Le fait de dire que Frédégonde est la fille du comte de Cambrai et d'une Crotechilde d'Ostrogothie tient de la fiction. Si elle avait réellement été la fille du comte de Cambrai, elle n'aurait pas attendu près de dix ans et deux accouchements hors mariage avant de se faire épouser par le roi Chilpéric !

Google translation:

To say that Fredegonde is the daughter of the Count of Cambrai and a Crotechilde of Ostrogothie is fiction. If she had really been the daughter of the Count of Cambrai, she would not have waited nearly ten years and two deliveries out of wedlock before being married by King Chilperic!
