The following is from "The American Descendants of Samuel Binswanger" by Myer Solis-Cohen, M.D., published 1957: Clara willed the interest from her small estate to be used for an annual celebration of her birthday "by her dear nieces and nephews, young and old, Aunt Clara's birthday. I want them to celebrate so that i may not be forgotten, but may be remembered as one who cared for them and always wanted to be doing for them, th' hands, feet and purse permitted it not." Since then, her nephews and nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces and their spouses have annually met on her birthday, which has become a family gathering.
