Clara Elizabeth Callahan

Clara E. Rapp Callahan was the daughter of George Rapp and Mary A. Butz (birth record) or Butts (marriage record). Although her birth record indicates that Clara was born in Beaver, Pike, Ohio, the birth record for her son, Maurice, indicates that she was born in the city of Jackson. She and William H. Callahan were married on June 10, 1914 at Jackson County, Ohio.

From at least 1920 until at least 1940, Clara appears to have made her home in the city of Jackson. In 1920, she and husband, William, made their home with William's mother. In 1930 and 1940, and now a widow, Clara shared her home with her three sons, Loel, Maurice, and Myron. Currently Known Children of William and Clara are:

Loel Ashby Callahan, born December 15, 1914, at Jackson, Jackson, Ohio and died December 27, 1994 at Canton, Stark, Ohio. Loel taught elementary and secondary school. Spouse, Helen Eccles Clark, who survived him. Loel and Helen had at least one child, Loel, who is married to Leigh. Loel, like his father, was a teacher and lived with his family around the world. Leigh and Lowell had at least one son, Travis Flynn Callahan, who passed away in 2016 and who was survived by his parents.

Maurice Edwin Callahan was born May 11, 1918 in Jackson, Jackson, Ohio, and died October 26, 1990.

James Callahan was born August 1, 1920, and died March 20, 1921, in Jackson, Jackson County, Ohio.

Myron L. Callahan was born August 7, 1924, in Ohio and died December 25, 1985, in Jackson, Jackson, Ohio. Married at time of death, Railroad worker; retired.

Clara passed away at the Athens Mental Health & Development Center. At the time of her death, she was widowed and declared to be a resident of the city of Jackson. She was interred on May 25, 1967.
