She was retired from Lewis-Levine Dress Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a member of the Fort Mitchell Baptist Church and the church's Missionary Society.

She was survived by her son, Harold "Hal" Phelps of Milford, Ohio, her daughters, Lois Van Pelt of Fort Wright, Lorraine Phelps of Sarasota, Florida, and Linda Meece of Bradenton, Florida; her sisters, Notie Lester of Loveland, Ohio and Pauline Coe of Hamersville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Phelps.

Visitation was held at the Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home in Ludlow, Kentucky. Funeral services were held at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
