Clara Bell Mote

Mrs. Clara Belle Mote, 77, of 115 West Stonewall Avenue, died last night following a lingering illness. Mrs. Mote was born at Springfield, Ill., on April 22, 1866. She had been a resident of McAlester for 22 years. Survivors include the husband, D. D. Mote; three daughters, Mrs. Velara Prescott of Fort Worth, Mrs. Margaret Clem of Artesia, N.M., and Mrs. Ruby Peterson of San Francisco; one son, J. D. Mote of Wichita Falls, Tex.; three brothers, Frank and Leslie Sherwood, both of Fort Worth and Albert Sherwood of Gatesville, Tex.; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Humphrey Chapel, with Dr. Auguie Henry of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
