2. John Dean (Jack) Hardesty, William Hardesty descendants, http;//websites.quincy.edu/~hardesty. "."
DEATH:
3. Bloomfield News, Weekly Newspaper, Vol. XLV No. 41 Pg. 4 Col. 3 & 4. " DEATH'S HARVEST –WHITWORTH."
Clara HARDISTY, daughter of Joseph and Jane HARDISTY, was born in Greene county, January 13, 1856.
She was married to Joseph WHITWORTH, March 13, 1873. To this union were born twelve children —nine girls and three boys. Two of the boys died in infancy.
She was converted in her home in 1884, and immersed in the Neosho river in Neosho county, Kansas in 1887, and had since lived a true christian life.
Aunt Clara, as we all loved to call her, spent her life rearing and caring for her large family, but she was always kind and thoughtful of others. She was ever ready and willing to minister to the wants of her neighbors, going at all times in cases of sickness and trouble, cheering by her kind words of comfort and love. For some years her husband was blind and it was remarkable how kind and devoted she was to him.
On February 22, 1912, she and her husband took into their home a little orphaned boy, Oral NOEL, and raised him to young manhood, giving him all the love and care of real parents, until his death, which occurred something over a year ago.
About two weeks before she passed away, she, with her husband, visited most all of their children, returning August 14, tired and worn out from her trip, but otherwise seemingly as well as usual. About half past twelve o'clock on Tuesday night, August 17, she was taken suddenly ill and passed away in a few moments.
She was aged sixty-five years, six months and four days.
She had often expressed to the family that she wished the end would come this way. She said to her husband just the evening before the end came, "that she felt like the work on earth was about done" and expressed a desire to go to her heavenly home.
She leaves to mourn their loss, an aged husband and the following children: Mrs. Mary HUDSON, Los Angeles, Calif.; Charles WHITWORTH, Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Artie OVERMAN, Vicksburg; Mrs. Cora CHAMBERLAIN, Bloomfield; Mrs. Bessie FEARNOT, Marco; Mrs. Fannie WELCH, Vicksburg; Mrs. Janette SHANKLIN, Linton; Mrs. Lacel GROVE, Park; Mrs. Sally BAKER, Newberry and Phebe, at home.
She had fifty-two grandchildren, forty-five of whom are living, and also one great grand-child.
She also leaves three brothers, John and Thomas HARDISTY, of Missouri, and Henry of Los Angeles, Calif., and one sister Mrs. Phebe PAYNE, of Zalma, Mo., besides many other relatives and friends who will truly miss her. "Blessed are those who die in the Lord."
At the funeral services last Friday afternoon, August 19, Mrs. W. H. MANSFIELD gave a nice talk on the purity and nobility of her character from the cradle to the grave. The services were conducted by J. M. WELSH, of Vicksburg. Beautiful songs were sung by the choir and many floral offerings were given by friends and relatives. Burial was in the Walnut Grove cemetery."
BURIAL:
4. Cemeteries of Eastern Greene County, Indiana, 1st 1908's; 2nd 1994, Page 187. "Whitworth, Clary, w/o Joseph, d/o Joseph & Jane Hardisty, 18 Jan 1856 - 17 Aug 1921."
DOB:
5. Statements in #3 says she was born on January 13. Citation #4 says 18 Jan. A photograph of her grave marker at findagrave.com ( http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=13272408 ) is fairly clear in stating that her DOB is January 18. Therefore, this record in Geni will state January 18.

Family data and all pictures for Joseph William Whitworth & Clara Belle Hardesty & the children and Chamberlain family were provided several years ago by Joseph William Chamberlain Jr. a great grandson of Clara Belle (Hardesty) Whitworth and dates he supplied for family history along with the printed obituary is what I have used and all my personal records and any records I submit elsewhere will use the dates provided by the family - including the birth date of 13 January 1856 - Judith (Judi) Elaine McKee Burns
Family trees by different people seem to concur that 13 January 1856 is the birth date excepting for 2 that do not match either the obituary or the tombstone:
