Clarence was the son of William Daniel and Frances Wilkins Oxendine. He married Eula Cummings and served in the United States Army during World War I.

The following was taken from the Nov. 18, 1976 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Clarence Oxendine, 82, died Tuesday at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Harper's Ferry Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Steve Jones, the Rev. Coolidge Cummings and the Rev. Charles Maynard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Cummings Oxendine; seven daughters, Mrs. Clement Bullard, Jr., Mrs. James E. Carter, Mrs. Melba Godwin, Mrs. Arnold Ray Jacobs, Miss Lois Oxendine, all of Rt. 3, Maxton; Mrs. Mazzie Hull, of Little Rock, Ark.; and Mrs. Willie Osbourne, Fayetteville; four sons, Osmer Lee, Eugene, Grover and William D. Oxendine, all of Rt. 3, Maxton; two sisters, Mrs. Lonnie Locklear and Mrs. Lucy Lewis, both of Pembroke; four brothers, Oliver, George, William and G. W., all of Pembroke; his stepmother, Mrs. Ida Oxendine, Pembroke; 32 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.
