"A Page In History
Mrs. William (Clarina McMillan) Hough, who was born near La Grange and is a lifetime resident of Stanislaus County, was honored on her 9(?) birthday anniversary recently in the Modesto home of Mrs. Abe Olmstead.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Bolan McMillan, pioneer residents of Stanislaus County. McMillan came to San Francisco in 1953 by boat, traveling across the Isthmus of Panama. Mrs. McMillan, the former Minerva Josephine Browder, traveled across the plains from Missouri in 1857 with the famous Browder wagon train when she was only 8 years old.
The honoree was joined at the celebration by her 90-year-old brother, Fred McMillan of Waterford, and many other friends and acquaintances from the valley who shared cake and conversation."
