Is there any documentation that Nancy's surname was Harrison? Elijah had land transactions with several Fairfield, SC neighbors including Wm Cloud, Richard Harrison, Jesse and Mary Harris. Witnesses included Asa Bell, James Seale, Greenberry Seale, Abraham Seale, A B Ferguson, Thomas Pool. None of these specify family relationship with Harrisons. RHSeale, Aug 2018

Clarissy was born about 1805 to unknown parents.

She married Abraham Seale and the couple had twelve children together.

Stephen Harmon Seale is the only child not yet connected to this couple, although he does have an entry on Find-A-Grave, should anyone wish to view it.

Clarissy appears on the 1860, Shelby County, Census with her husband, Abraham, and three of their children, Nancy, Munroe and Mahala. This Census gives her place of birth as Georgia and gives her name as Clarrissa Seales.

She passed away on July 27th of 1863 in Shelby County, Alabama.

Some online genealogies give Abraham Seale as having married someone by the name of Clumsaw, which could be Clarissy's maiden name. I have not yet discovered documentation that supports this but am mentioning it here in the hope that it might aid researchers.

Her maiden name might appear on the death certificates for Nancy, Mahala or Munroe Seale. Munroe Seale is listed as a female on the 1860 Shelby County, Alabama Census but I do not know if this was an error. If Munroe was a male, a pension record may exist that states Clarissy's maiden name.

Update 06/16/2016 : Based on Autosomal DNA, I believe that Clarissy Seale's parents might be John Hales and Elizabeth Hales of North Carolina and Georgia. More evidence is necessary to prove the connection, as this couple has several unidentified daughters and one is of the right age to be Clarissy but because Census records only listed the head of household until 1850, I have not been able to confirm this with supporting documentation. As I am a direct female line descendant of Clarissy, I need to mt-DNA test against a direct female line descendant of Elizabeth Spicer or her Mother to confirm in the absence of traditional documentation. The search for such a descendant is ongoing at this time.

Based on information from another web site Clarisse Seale carries the H3b1b1 mtDNA.
