CHARLES GREEN 5-12-1895 to 6-5-1980

Charles Samuel Green, 85. of Sulphur. W. Va.. died today at Garrett Memorial Hospital. Oakland. Born at Sulphur, he was a son of the late James and Mary (Rotruck) Green. ( Martha Jane Rotruck ) ( CWH ). He was a retired farmer and a member of the Nethken Hill United Methodist Church, and Senior Citizens of MineralCounty. Surviving are his widow, Rosa (Sharpless) Green; three daughters. Mrs. Faye Eliza Hortch, Edgewater, Md.; Mrs. Carrie Lawrence, and Miss Velma Green, both of Sulphur; four grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday.

Charles & Rosa was married in Cumberland, Maryland by the Rev, G. E. Brown on the 10-22-1914. They lived in Baltimore in 1918 and Charlie worked at the ship yard. Charles was the son of James Robert Green (Greenhalgh) and Martha Jane Rotruck. Charles & Rosa were farmer, They raised cattle and hogs on their farm in Sulphur and for a while Charlie had a store in Sulphur. Charlie also worked in the coal mines and had his own mine. Their farm was 219 acres. The Old Sulphur School House was on the farm and he went to school there as a child as did Faye and Velma, his daughters. Charlie had many talents as did Rosa. He could doctor the animals and could build about anything he put his mind too. Rosa was good with working the horses in the field as well a good cook. Charlie was also a good shot with his rifles. He really like shooting his 300 Savage.
