About Claude-Marie-Mécène Marié de L'Isle
Mécène Marié de l'Isle was a French musician (double bass in 1830's) and opera singer (tenor in 1840's and then baritone), later conductor. He used the stage name Marié.
Roles created
- In 1840, he created the role of Tonio during the world premiere of The Daughter of the Regiment of Donizetti
- In 1851, he created the role of Alcea in Gounod's Sapho.
- On 13 June 1855, he sang Robert in the world premiere of Verdi's Les vêpres siciliennes at Paris Opéra (in its old building of Salle Le Peletier), .
- In 1862, he created the role of Phanor in the world premiere of Gounod's La reine de Saba.
