Boddum Church

Tombstone 2 O. 1650, over parish priest Claus Christensen, born in Skarum paa Mors, died 12 Aug. 1652, 53 years old, and wife Kiersten Pedersdater, born in Hinsels, died 16 □. Öland limestone, 244 × 164 cm, double marginal script with relief capitals. In the center field, you can see a powerful, lively and skilfully made relief of Christ in clouds on the globe with sword and palm branch, surrounded by four intercessors: Mary, John and two robed men. At the far end Moses with the Tablets of the Law, and on the other side a bearded man without attributes. There under a two-handled incense vase between trumpet angels, and to the sides two coats of arms, the priest's with a flaming, cross-marked heart under a sun and above the inn down helmet: CCS, the wife's with a dove carrying an olive branch, and above the helmet: KPD. The lower part of the middle field is taken up by a large, convex script field in a cartilaginous baroque frame with angel heads, containing scriptures in Danish and Latin (Job. 19., Phil. 1. etc.) with relief capitals.
