James Norman was born about 1740 in Faquier County VA. He married

Jemima Shumate about 1760 in Fauquier County. Jemima was the daughter of

James and Judith (Bailey) Shumate.

   In 1806, John and Sarah (Norman) Dennison, Bailey and Nancy

(Dennison) Norman and other members of their families came to Hacker's

Creek, Harrison County, VA. Many of their descendants are still living

in Lewis and Harrison counties.
