About Clementine Knapp

Clemmy Knapp was born Clemintine Miller 20 May 1884 or 1885 in Marshall Richland Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Charles Miller 1859-1946 and Lydia Ann McNelly 1858-1953. She married Charles Carlson in Juneau Wisconsin May 2, 1900. They moved to Montana and lived in Helena Montana. They had three kids before their divorce. She married Henry Knapp and moved to Missoula.

She married Charles Carlson (birth name Karl Johan Carlson born in Norberg Sweden March 27, 1875) on May 2, 1900 in Juneau Wisconsin. Charles Carlson worked for Charles Miller on his farm in Wisconsin.

Her children with Charles Carlson were; Aaron Ruben Eugene Carlson born April 5, 1906 in Helena Montana and died Dec 10, 1966 in Spokane Washington, Wilfred Ramond Clifford Carlson born March 25, 1908 in Helena Montana and died January 4, 1984 in Evaro Montana, and Clemmy Bernice Altamay Carlson born April 20, 1911 in Helena Montana died Dec 13, 1982.

She was just 16 when she was married in 1900 but they soon left Wisconsin by train for East Helena Montana and then to Helena. The Charles Miller family soon followed them to Helena Montana. My grandfather Richard Bergquist then emigrated to Helena Montana instead of going to Wisconsin in 1903 from Sweden to join up with his half-brother. When Clemmy and Charles divorced, their older son Aaron changed his last name to Knapp while his brother Wilfred kept his birth last name of Carlson.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Apr 24 2024, 4:27:35 UTC
