About Cleon Oliver Daniels

Cleon O. Daniels, 98, formerly of Newark Valley, Berkshire and Kings Ferry, passed peacefully away on March 4, 2016. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Jane and Gerald Youngs, Nancy and Mike Wandall, daughter-in-law, Penny Daniels, sister-in-law, Jeannette Bailey; grandchildren: Timothy (Debra) Youngs, Daniel (Beth) Youngs, Howard (Linda) Harman III, Teresa (Richard) Mansfield, Penny (Dewell) Burton, Lesley (Thomas) Robbins, Jennifer (John) Atencio Stokes, Julie Daniels, Matthew (Toni) Daniels; step children: Donna (Tom) Fauls, Sally (Bruce) Hoyt, Cynthia (Fanch) Fancher, Jolie (Bob) Weber, LaRinda (John Voight) Martin; 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, many step grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, J. Harlow and Maggie (Wright) Daniels, his wife of 37 years, Eleanor (Martin) and his wife of 34 years, Evelyn (Hollenbeck); his son Dana Daniels, and brothers: Eldon, Lester, Fred, Ralph and Walter Daniels. Cleon was a hardworking man. In his early years he was a dairy farmer, truck driver for Tappan's in Newark Valley, owned and operated a diner in Berkshire and then retired as a campus bus driver from Cornell Univ. following 16 years of service. In addition, he trained and sold horses and ponies, enjoyed woodworking crafting many articles of small furniture, clocks and doll beds. Also an adventurous man, he found time to camp and travel. His greatest joy was all his family whom he loved so very much. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and sharing of memories on Friday, Mar.11 at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley from 9-11 am. A Funeral Service will follow there at 11am with his grandson, Rev. Matthew Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Maine Cemetery.
