About Clifford Whittingham Beers

Clifford Whittingham Beers (March 30, 1876 – July 9, 1943) was the founder of the American mental hygiene movement.[1]

Humanitarian and advocate for the mentally ill. He founded the Connecticut Society for Mental Hygiene. Once a patient himself, he helped reform the treatment of people with mental disorders. Through his efforts the National Association for Mental Health was founded. His autobiography. "A Mind That Found Itself," is a classic in the field of psychology.
