About Clifford John Coleman

Clifford was the biological son of William Bowen Crane and Mary Frances Whitney Crane. Not long after his birth his father left the family and moved to Chicago, Illinois, about 1889. Clifford was later adopted by Mary Frances Whitney Crane's sister, Sarah Whitney Coleman and her husband Theodore J. Coleman. After Sarah passed away in 1923, Theodore married Mary Frances Whitney Crane, so that her son Clifford would be taken care of after their deaths. Mary died in 1926 and Theodore in 1927.
