Colonel Anthony Charles Barnes was born on 13 October 1891. He was the son of Sir George Stapylton Barnes and Sybil de Gournay Buxton. He married Honor Dorothea Coote, daughter of Stanley Victor Coote and Louisa Bathurst, on 12 May 1920.
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) He lived at Cobham, Surrey, England.
