About Col. Edward Tilghman, Sr.
s/o Richard Tilghman / Anna Maria Lloyd
High Sheriff of Queen Anne County from 5 Nov 1739 - 5 Nov 1742, one of the Justices of the county from 1743-49. He represented the County in the Assembly from 1746-50, when he was commissioned Keeper of the Rolls for the Eastern Shore. In 1765 he was a member of the Stamp Act Congress and one of the Committee which drew up the remonstrance to Parliament. Will written Feb 1781 Proved 31 Oct 1786. Edward was the Executor of his father-in-law William Turbutt's will.
