About Col. Henry Smith
Buried at Sherewog, daughter of Henry and Anna (Shepard) Smith. Colonel Henry Smith, born at Tangier, 19 Jan 1679, was a son of Colonel William Smith, who had been a mayor in Tangier, an English possession from 1662 to 1684, and who, coming to America in 1686, became Chief Justice and President of the Council of the Province of New York. The first wife of Colonel Henry Smith was Anna, daughter of the Rev. Thomas Shepard, of Charlestown, Mass., and they were married 1 Jan 1704/5, by the celebrated theologian, the Rev. Cotton Mather.
