Daughters of the American Revolution
Hugh Stephenson is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A109224.
Hugh was awarded (evidently posthumously) a warrant for a total of 6,666⅔ acres of land "lying north-west of the River Ohio, between the Little Miami and Sciota" in the Northwest Territory (later the state of Ohio). These Land Warrants were purchased by Lucas Sullivant (5,816+ acres as assignee, 14 May 1800) and Abraham Shepherd (1,000 acres as assignee, 12 June 1798). The Warrants show lineage from Hugh Stephenson, to his heir-at-law Richard Stephenson, to HIS heir-at-law John Stephenson, to the respective Assignees. NOTE that the total acreage exceeds the original land warrant.[1]
