Col. James Derrick Young

Graduated from high school in Lamont, Alberta. Attended Royal Rhodes Military College, Victoria, British Columbia; Royal Military College, Kingston Ontario (1953); UofAlberta Edmonton (Electrical Engineering) (1954); University of Michigan ( Master of Astronautics, Master of Aeronautics) (early 1960s). Career officer in the Canadian Armed Forces (Air Force): was an A.E.R.E. officer on the Avro CF 100 and the Avro Arrow projects; was Chief Negotiator for the acquisition of the CF-18 for Canada; commanded the AMDU in Trenton. After retirement from the Forces, he worked in the private aviation industry. Married Patricia Ruth Ritz, RN, June 13, 1953, Calgary, Alberta, and had 3 sons.
