Civil War Confederate Officer. Born in 1837 four months after the death of his father, he was the younger brother of Nathan Bedford Forrest. In June 1861 he joined the Confederacy in a Tennessee mounted infantry company. He rose to the rank of colonel and commanded the 4th Alabama Cavalry and later the 4th Brigade in his brother's command. He was shot in the neck and killed during the Battle of Okolona, Ms.
