"died of consumption, at Jacksonville, Fla., where he had gone for his health, January 13, 1857, and was buried near his former residence, in Henry County, Va. His wife died February 3, 1858, at "Bridgewater," and was buried by the side of her husband."

John was a lawyer.
He settled at "Red Plains" about 2 miles from Marrowbone, where he was born, in Henry County, Va. He was 46 when he died... "Leaving a much afflicted widow, eight children and numerous friends to mourn their loss."
