Mr. Culver was subject to fainting spells in his declining years, which was the cause of his meeting death in a calamitous manner. He was engaged in burning refuse on the farm, and, as is supposed, fell in a faint and was so severely suffocated and burned that it caused his death. This sad event occurred in 1872, when he was about seventy-seven years old. Pioneer sketches of Long Point settlement, or, Norfolk's foundation builders and their family genealogies, 1898, pg 562
