We knew that Samuel Herrick was in Bennington from 1768 or earlier until after the close of the Revolutionary War, after which time he removed to the Town of Springfield, Montgomery County, NY, [now Otsego County, NY]. The date he left was somewhat in doubt, but two deeds that were discovered at the Bennington Museum Library, each executed September 28, 1787, [one to Roger Kingsley or Kinsley and the second to Eleazer Hawks], stated that his residence was Springfield, Montgomery County, NY. Therefore he removed to NY State before that date.
We knew from adultery charges filed against "Mrs. Lydia Herrick & Isaac Tichenor," that his 2nd wife's first name was Lydia. We assumed that she was the mother of Daniel, Francis & David Herrick, who were indicated by the 1846 & 1885 Herrick Genealogies to have been the three children of his second marriage.
