He was emphatically an honest man, remarkable for his scrupulous punctuality in the business obligations of life. His patriotism was evincedd by his early services to his country as a soldier of the revolution and through life he retained the simple tastes and practised the hardy witness becoming a republican citizen who loved his country by industry and management, he prospered in his worldly affairs aand to the education and advacement of his children he bestowed his means with judicious liberation. In testimony of whose grateful remembrance and veneration this marble is erected.
