About Colonel Daniel Coxe
During his lifetime and after his death in 1730, Col. Daniel Coxe, son of Dr. Daniel Coxe, continued to protect his father's interests in the colony of New Jersey. He traveled, surveyed and wrote about the land held by his father which he would later come to inherit. His descendants were forced to relinquish all land claims to the British Crown in 1769. In addition to being his father's agent in America, Col. Coxe, was a member of the Royal Council in America, a Speaker of the Assembly, Judge of the Supreme Court and the Provincial Grand Master of the Free Masons of the Middle Colonies.
