His Majesty has likewise been pleased to appoint Charles Legge, Esq; to be first Major, Tobias Cramer, Esq; second Major, James Stuart, Esq; Captain, and Charles Ingram, Esq; Captain Lieutenant, in the third Regiment of Foot Guards commanded by the Right Hon. John Earl of Dunmore.

All Accounts from London advise, that the Hon. Colonel James Stuart of Torrance, Esq; died last week at his lodgings in that city. He was an officer of great experience, and signalized his valour at the Battle of Almansa, Almansa, Albacete, Spain, 25 April 1707 38.87444, -1.0936944, and other actions in Spain.

James Stuart of Torrance, eldest son, Lieutenant Colonel of the 3rd regiment of foot guards, and one of the Gentleman Ushers to King George the First. He died unmarried in the year 1743, and was succeeded by his brother Patrick Stuart of Torrance, Captain in the Royal regiment of foot, and some time Representative in Parliament for the county of Lanark. He died unmarried in the year 1760, and was succeeded by his brother Archibald Stuart of Torrance, who carried on the line of the Torrance family. He married Elizabeth Myreton, daughter of Sir Andrew Myreton of Gogar, Baronet, and died in November 1767, leaving three sons and three daughters.
