About Colonel Spencer Lucy, M.D.
Biography
Spencer Lucy was born in March 1616 in Of, Warwickshire, , England. His parents were Sir Thomas Lucy, Kt., MP and Alicia Lucy (Spencer). Spencer married Mary Lucy (Brett). He died in 1649.
He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1643 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) He fought in the English Civil War and gained the rank of Colonel in the Royalists.
Haversham Manor
Thomas, son and heir of the latter, succeeded to Haversham, dying in 1640. He was followed by his eldest son Spenser Lucy, whose widow, with her second husband William Sheldon, quitclaimed the manor in 1653 to Robert Lucy, brother of Spencer.
